Journey of Dy'nereir

At a very young age Dy'nereir's parents were murdered by a human raiding party. A human male, Maximus Sar-raylius, took Dy'nereir as a prisoner. Young slaves are hard to come by, especially the child of a fallen enemy. Can you not think of a better war trophy? It was a mistake on the humans part, as he will one day realize.

Dy'nereir served this human well for years to come. Maximus even came to look upon the elven slave as more than just a slave, but as a child, even a child of his own. Ofcourse, he'd never admit this.

Over the years Dy'nereir became adept at watching his "master" train. For the human was one of the greatest Wizards the human nation had to offer. In the light Dy'nereir was a devoted and faithful servant. In the shadows he was becomming an adept pupil, a Mage Apprentice with the sole purpose of killing his human master and irradicating the human race from this planet.

One day, after bringing Maximus a much needed drink to quench the thirst that only heavy training could cause, Maximus realized after downing the entire mug that he had been poisened. He instinctively went looking for his wife, Celia. As he stumbled down the main hallway to his room the names and faces of the people he thought would do such a thing flashed through his mind till they became a jumble, a blur.

As he reached the door an overwhelming sense of dread enveloped him. He swung the door open quickly, his eyes widend, his jaw droped and his heart stoped as his knees buckled and he fell to the ground. "No! It couldnt be.." he thought. The child he raised, the boy he treated as a son in the privacy of his own home was standing before him. Standing over Celia's limp body. Dagger inhand blood dulling its once brilliant shine.

Celia was dead. Dy'nereirs eyes turned to Maximus. "It gave me no joy to kill her, she was an innocent you dragged in Maximus. The same as I." Dy'nereir stated in a cold, detached voice. "Think about the pain you have caused, think about it for all eternity in the endless torment of the dark abyss that is awaiting your heartless soul."

Maximus tried to scream out for his guards, but finds the words wont come. Dy'nereir chose his poisen wisely. Even in betrayel Maximus finds the boy to be a treasure-trove of endless potential. For he had just taught one of the greatest Wizards of the human race an invaluable lesson "Complete trust is a weakness."

That night Dy'nereir found his way out of the city, no lives were lost, least none worth mentioning. For years he wondered the countryside. Many an unsuspecting human fell prey to his magic and quick dagger, the same dagger that served him faithfully that night long ago at Maximus's keep. He had since named the dagger "The Hopeslayer".

One day he encountered an Elf. The first in many a year, since his childhood infact. After shadowing the Wizard for days, and even weeks Dy'nereir one night found himself the one being stalked.

Sitting by his fire far from the Wizards camp a voice rang out in the night that was asloud as the booming thunder that follows the storms high above. "It is not wise to start a fire when you're the stalker my friend." Dy'nereir quickly spins to face the voice, his dagger drawn, a minor spell trailing the tip of his lips only to see nothing but trees and darkness. At the concept of now being the one stalked he turns quickly to grab up his belongings and jumps back suddenly almost losing his footing.

Shocked, Dy'nereir now stared at the Wizard. The Wizard was now at his campfire, eating one of the hares Dy'nereir had hunted earlier. "Sit and eat young one. You have nothing to fear while in my presence." The Wizard states quietly.

"And what if I decided to kill you now?" asks Dy'nereir.

"Then you would lose all of my knowledge for all time young one." states the Wizard.

At the prospect of gaining more knowledge, about the world, his people and the Wizard, Dy'nereir decides to sit and talk with the Elven-Magus for a time.

After long hours of chatting with the Wizard, Arch-Magus Azul Lightbringer, then turns the conversation to the Gathering. The reunification of the Elves.

Interested at the prospect of joining other Elves to fight for the return of the elves birthright, to their thrones of old as rulers of all, Dy'nereir then agrees to accompany Azul to the Gathering.

In the morning as Azul and Dy'nereir are preparing to break camp two figures emerge out of the woods as if they were a part of the tree's themselves. One an Aelfborne female, druid by the looks of her, the other an Elven Scout by his appearance. These two had infact been tracking Dy'nereir since the time he first started tracking Azul. Obviously he still had a great deal to learn in the world and had plenty of time to learn it. For its a long journey to this "House Lok-ri"
