Formal Announcement on Age of Conan

I think the game had/has great potential, but unfortunately, they did not work on the end game enough I think for most people's tastes. I and several still like the game oddly enough. Personally, I also did not rush my way up and took time to smell the roses and not burn myself out hehe. I think that helped alot.

The population is dying quicker than most typical guilds can withstand and that includes House Lok-ri. I spent a great deal of time talking with a few people in other guilds that I know over the last few weeks. Almost all were agreement with me that WAR is going to kill the population in September, then WOW The Lich King will hurt tremendously as well. So I just don't think it is worth keeping it going in AOC as a guild.

We could have recruited most massively like many have to stay alive, but then I don't think we would be really much of a core guild now in game like I have heard from a few people in other guilds (ie: their core is nearly non-existant). In WoW we massively recruited, in AOC we took a slightly different approach and tried to do similiarly that we did in SB, but the only problem is that we did not get active outside our own clique enough to acheive the SB advertisement. The population decline did not help either. It takes a great deal of confidence and help from everyone in that category and I don't think we had enough time before hand or excitement like we did for SB. So the idea, I think lies in the middle somewhere.

With that said, I think it is time to close up AOC and let the couple of people who desire to grow in the end game in other guilds. Many of you have voted, though we will have more votes I am sure. I also know from several who quit early on to let them know if and when we go to Warhammer Online. So I think we have a nice presence to get started there.

Anyway, I kept HL as a guild for the time being for those who just want to log in every now and again and chat, see the patches etc etc. I know I am going to play off and on until WAR beta. I still and others still really enjoy the game so we will hang onto our accounts in case we want to play or if WAR delays...again. For those who remain, we go lots in the bank (including my own) for dabbling interest. For those who leave, check out the guild bank, you are welcome to stuff too! Let me know if you need anything.

Warhammer Online

House Lok-ri has been watching Warhammer for some time now. It would have chosen it as its game before Age of Conan, but it was delayed. I think many were expecting another delay, but after the Preview weekend, the removal of the NDA, and pending Open Beta September 7th, it looks like Warhammer will make its appearance September 18, 2008.

We are currently in vote for which side to choose... The Dark Elves of Destruction or the High Elves of Order. Which supportive classes we will accept will be decided afterward, but it is looking like we will likely go with all races in WAR since it is fairly limited as is. In the vote, Destruction is ahead by a massive amount, so if you are wanting to play Order, you better get to voting (Please see the Warhammer Online Private Forum to Vote).

For those who do not know. Warhammer is being created by the same people who created Dark Ages of Camelot. House Lok-ri was actually very successful in DAOC in spite of their extremely small presence there. There are many many similarities between the two games, so I have high hopes for this one. After the Preview weekend, it was almost unanimous that guildies think they will want to stay in this game for a long time to come.

So get your RVR gear ready!
